Israeli forces killed a Hamas commander, Muhammad Suleiman Byouk, in Khan Younis, with the military saying he was involved in the October 7 attacks and was planting bombs and rebuilding Hamas capabilities. Separately, a wave of Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on September 19-20 killed at least five to six Palestinians, including a young girl and the son of Gaza's health ministry director-general, despite an ongoing declared ceasefire. Palestinian officials and Hamas said the killings, alongside settler and military actions in the West Bank and at Al-Aqsa, are undermining prospects for calm and demonstrate Israel is not upholding commitments under a US-brokered plan. Gaza's Civil Defence also reported the death toll from a strike on a vehicle in Sheikh Radwan rising to three.
