A study found that Alzheimer's patients with atrial fibrillation who took newer blood thinners (NOACs) experienced a slower decline in cognitive function compared to those using warfarin or no blood thinners at all. While the effect was modest annually, researchers say it could meaningfully add up over time, suggesting a potential secondary benefit beyond stroke prevention.
