A gunman opened fire on a group of Israelis visiting a natural spring near the Neveh Tzuf settlement ahead of Yom Kippur, killing father-of-six Netanel Shukrun; the IDF says it captured the shooter, identified as a Hamas-linked 37-year-old from Biddu. In response, a large Israeli force raided Biddu, besieging worshippers at a mosque during prayers, while separately Israeli troops detained 27 Palestinians in a raid on al-Mughayyir village east of Ramallah. In related unrest, Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian near Jenin and, in a separate incident, killed a Palestinian who allegedly tried to ram soldiers with a vehicle. The attack and subsequent crackdown pushed the IDF onto high alert across the West Bank heading into the Jewish holiday.
