National security minister Itamar Ben Gvir separately entered the Al-Aqsa courtyard to perform Talmudic prayers for the second time in recent weeks, and thousands of Israeli settlers stormed the nearby Al-Buraq Wall plaza to carry out rituals. The incursions drew fierce Palestinian condemnation and a formal protest from Jordan, whose foreign ministry called Ben Gvir's action an 'unacceptable provocation' violating international humanitarian law and the status quo governing the holy site.
