Tropical Storm Odalys formed over the eastern Pacific and by early Monday, September 21, was centered near 13.1N 127.7W, roughly 1,350 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, moving northwest at about 13 mph with 50 mph sustained winds and a minimum pressure of 1002 mb. The National Hurricane Center says shear has recently been slowing intensification but still expects Odalys to strengthen into a hurricane later this week as it continues on a northwestward track well offshore. GDACS's automated cyclone notification for Odalys currently estimates no population exposure to category-1-force winds, reflecting the storm's remote position far from land. No damage, injuries or evacuations have been reported.
