Over September 20-21, Russian forces carried out a wave of strikes on Ukrainian cities and towns, killing and injuring civilians and damaging infrastructure. Deaths were reported in Zaporizhzhia Oblast (a minibus attack in Komyshuvakha), Dnipro (a 20-year-old student and another young man dying of injuries), Mykolaiv Oblast (a three-year-old boy killed in Voznesensk), Sloviansk (a man killed and another trapped under rubble in high-rise strikes), Sumy (a woman killed in twin drone attacks), Kharkiv Oblast's Lozova (a woman killed, three injured) and Kyiv, where children were among four people reportedly killed in strikes on the Kyiv region. Additional strikes hit warehouses and businesses in Odesa Oblast, Zhytomyr Oblast petrol stations, Kropyvnytskyi district, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast's Nikopol, and Zaporizhzhia, where a historic university building, a shopping centre and residential high-rises were damaged, injuring six people. The dispersed but relentless strikes illustrate the continuing toll of Russian attacks on Ukrainian population centers even as diplomatic efforts continue.
