The Smithsonian/USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity report for September 10-16, 2026 documented continuing eruptive activity at multiple volcanoes globally, including new eruptive activity at Krakatau (Indonesia) with Strombolian eruptions and an ash plume rising 2.1 km; ongoing activity at Aira/Sakurajima (Japan) with high sulfur dioxide emissions; and continuing eruptions at Dukono, Ibu, Karangetang and Lewotolok (Indonesia), Kanlaon and Mayon (Philippines), Great Sitkin and Kilauea (United States), and Klyuchevskoy and Krasheninnikov (Russia). Alert levels at most sites remained at low-to-moderate levels (2 on a 4-point scale), with ash plumes generally staying below 2 km and no casualties reported.
