Tropical Storm Fay, located several hundred miles southwest of the Azores, continued to weaken on September 22, 2026, as strong wind shear displaced its convection east of an exposed low-level center and dry air enveloped the system. As of 3:00 AM GMT, Fay had maximum sustained winds of about 40 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1008 mb, moving southwest at 8 mph. The storm poses no immediate threat to land, and GDACS's green-level notification indicates no population is currently estimated to be affected by tropical-storm-force winds. Forecasters note the Atlantic hurricane season has otherwise been unusually quiet.
