Tropical Storm Dujuan, which briefly reached typhoon strength on September 18 before weakening, was forecast to restrengthen into a typhoon again by September 22 as it skirted the coast of Japan. The system is expected to hit the Izu Islands with sustained winds potentially reaching 80 mph and gusts near 100 mph, even without a direct landfall on the main islands. GDACS recorded Dujuan as active in the Northwest Pacific from September 15-22, affecting Japan at low vulnerability, with no population impact from Category 1-force winds yet reported.
