The UK government has warned that wildlife in England and Wales will suffer effects from this year's drought for years to come. Large parts of England and all of Wales experienced serious drought this summer, with both nations recording their driest Julys since records began in 1836. The number of potentially damaging environmental incidents triggered by the hot, dry weather has already surpassed 2025's total.
