An Argentine judge charged seven Iranians, some of whom held high-ranking government positions, along with one Lebanese national identified as a Hezbollah member, in connection with the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires that killed 85 people. The charges, filed in absentia, could pave the way for a trial over one of the deadliest antisemitic attacks outside Israel. The case has remained a longstanding point of tension between Argentina and Iran, and the new charges revive international attention on Hezbollah's alleged role in the attack.
