Overnight into September 22, Russia launched a large-scale attack combining ballistic missiles and 212 drones against Ukraine, hitting Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad among 22 struck locations; Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 186 aerial targets. In Dnipro, a ballistic missile strike on an Interpipe facility killed four workers and injured seven, including a 20-year-old student who later died in hospital, while railway infrastructure was damaged nationwide. In Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district, a drone strike partially destroyed a five-story residential building, injuring five people and damaging four buildings; fuel tanks in the Obolonskyi district were also hit. The strikes caused power outages across seven Ukrainian oblasts, including Kyiv and Vinnytsia, according to Ukrenergo. The attack underscored continued Russian targeting of energy and industrial infrastructure despite ongoing international efforts to broker an energy-strike moratorium.
