Tropical Storm Odalys, located far off Mexico's Pacific coast (about 1,345 miles southwest of the tip of Baja California), was forecast to become a hurricane later on Sep 22 despite earlier disruption from dry air entrainment and wind shear. As of the latest advisory, Odalys had maximum sustained winds of about 70 mph and a minimum central pressure of 994 mb, moving east-northeast at roughly 8-9 mph. The storm remains well offshore with no immediate threat to land reported, and GDACS data indicate no population is yet estimated to be affected by Category 1 winds. The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor its track and intensity as it heads toward the open Pacific.
