Fay, formerly a tropical cyclone in the Atlantic, degenerated into a post-tropical remnant low pressure area by Tuesday night, Sep 22, located about 685 miles southwest of the Azores. Maximum sustained winds had dropped to about 35 mph with a minimum central pressure of 1011 mb, and the system was moving west-southwest at about 8-9 mph with no organized convection for over 18 hours. The National Hurricane Center issued its final advisories on Fay as it dissipates, posing no significant threat to land.
