USGS reported two significant earthquakes on Sep 22, 2026: a magnitude 6.5 quake located 169 km west of Nikolski, Alaska, and a magnitude 6.4 quake 49 km northeast of Kainantu, Papua New Guinea. Both were in relatively sparsely populated areas, and no casualties or damage have been reported in connection with either event.
