A new study found that nearly one in six children taking GLP-1 medications such as Victoza, Saxenda, Trulicity, and Ozempic for weight loss, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes developed a diagnosed nutritional deficiency within a year of starting treatment. Vitamin D deficiency was most common, affecting about 12% of young patients. The research highlights an overlooked risk as GLP-1 prescriptions for adolescents rise rapidly, and researchers are calling for closer nutritional monitoring alongside these treatments.
