Amid UN General Assembly diplomacy, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would try to secure a limited energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia and predicted the war will end through negotiations rather than military victory; Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to halt strikes on Russian energy facilities if Russia reciprocates. Fifty countries and the EU issued a joint UN statement calling for an immediate Russian ceasefire, which the United States declined to sign.　Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, after meeting Rubio, said Moscow will not pause hostilities during any negotiations, and the Kremlin said new US sanctions would harm peace talks and bilateral ties. Kremlin spokesman Peskov said there is currently no path to peace talks but reiterated an invitation for Zelensky to visit Moscow.
