US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Washington has invited Vladimir Putin to attend the G20 summit scheduled for 14-15 December in Miami and hopes he will attend. The Kremlin, via spokesman Dmitry Peskov, welcomed the invitation and said it would consider the matter through diplomatic channels. Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev separately travelled to New York for talks with Trump administration officials on US-Russia relations, energy and ending the war.
