Hurricane Odalys continued to strengthen in the eastern Pacific while maintaining an unusual eastward heading, with maximum sustained winds reaching about 85 mph (75 kt) and a minimum central pressure of 978 mb as of the night of September 23. The storm was located roughly 1,205 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, posing no immediate threat to land. The National Hurricane Center continued issuing regular advisories and wind speed probability updates as Odalys tracked east at about 6-7 mph, part of an active eastern Pacific season that also includes Hurricane Polo and Tropical Storm Nolo.
