Tropical Storm Fay has been holding relatively steady in strength while drifting westward across the central Atlantic, located Friday morning about 1,040 miles southwest of the Azores with sustained winds near 50 mph and a central pressure of 1005 mb. Satellite estimates put its intensity between 35 and 45 knots, and the National Hurricane Center has been issuing regular advisories, though the storm poses no immediate threat to land. GDACS rated Fay as a green-level (minor) tropical cyclone with no significant population exposure reported.
