During Minecraft Live on September 26, Mojang made several major announcements for its long-running sandbox game. The biggest reveal was 'The Sift,' Minecraft's first new dimension in over 15 years (since The End in 2011), an ethereal realm first teased for Minecraft Dungeons 2 and now confirmed for the base game in 2027 on Java and Bedrock editions. Mojang also detailed the next quarterly game drop, adding an underground Ice Caves biome, frozen zombies, a new hostile mob, and ice-themed items, expected to release around December 2026. Beyond in-game content, Minecraft World unveiled plans for the world's first official Minecraft hotel and named the franchise's first-ever rollercoaster, both slated for 2027, underscoring Mojang and Microsoft's continued push to expand Minecraft into physical experiences and real-world attractions alongside its core game updates.
