Former Elder Scrolls designer Kurt Kuhlmann and a Skyrim loremaster separately commented on why Bethesda has never allowed an outside studio to develop an Elder Scrolls spin-off similar to Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas. Kuhlmann suggested Bethesda head Todd Howard is 'very protective' of the franchise and unlikely to want to recreate that situation. The comments come as fans continue to wait for The Elder Scrolls 6, nearly 15 years after Skyrim's launch, with no indication that Bethesda plans to outsource development of a spin-off to fill the gap as it once did with Fallout.
