Fighting between Saudi-backed forces and Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen intensified, with the Houthis claiming to have targeted Riyadh with ballistic missiles, striking a fuel depot near the airport, while Saudi Arabia said it intercepted missiles and drones aimed at Riyadh and Khamis Mushait. The G7 accused Iran of continuing to arm the Houthis and condemned their attacks on Saudi Arabia, warning the escalation threatens global energy security, while Saudi Arabia's foreign minister used his UN address to accuse Iran of 'flagrant attacks' and call for international action against the Houthis and for protection of Gulf shipping routes. The UK announced it would provide air-to-air refuelling support for Saudi jets conducting defensive operations, and defence chiefs from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan met in Riyadh to coordinate a response. Meanwhile, thousands of Yemenis have fled across the Red Sea to Djibouti to escape the fighting, Yemen's government called for general mobilization and offered amnesty to Houthi defectors, and reports suggest the intelligence balance in the Red Sea conflict is beginning to turn against the Houthis.
