Nirvana was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2026 MTV VMAs for the band's legacy, with Chuck D presenting the honor to surviving members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. The band accepted the award but did not perform.
