A US District Judge in Washington ordered James 'Archbox' Williams, a former moderator of the r/SwitchPirates subreddit, to pay Nintendo roughly £3.4 million ($4.5 million) in damages after he failed to respond to a lawsuit filed in October 2025. Nintendo had accused Williams of operating pirate shops that illegally decrypted and distributed Switch games. The default judgment marks one of Nintendo's largest wins yet in its aggressive ongoing legal campaign against Switch piracy groups and individuals.
