Toshio Masuda, director of the 'Uchuu Senkan Yamato' (Space Battleship Yamato) films, died on August 26 at age 98 due to natural causes, the Directors Guild of Japan announced. A private funeral was held by close relatives for the influential director, who was born in Kobe in 1927.
