Israeli media and the Associated Press reported that PM Benjamin Netanyahu made an undisclosed trip to Abu Dhabi on Sunday, meeting UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed to ask him to publicly deny reports that the UAE (and Egypt) had warned Israel of Hamas's planned October 7, 2023 attack days in advance. The visit, confirmed by Netanyahu's office only after leaks, came amid a wave of reporting (including in Haaretz) alleging Arab states gave advance warnings that were ignored. Israel's Shin Bet filed a complaint seeking prosecution of Channel 12 for revealing the trip, and the UAE later confirmed the visit through state media. The episode has deepened a domestic political firestorm: former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar said he will sue Netanyahu after being accused of withholding warnings, insisting he did alert the PM and demanding release of documents.
