NASA's Glenn Research Center and affiliated researchers are developing advanced materials and systems for future deep-space operations. New work includes polycatenated architected materials (PAM) for origami-inspired space docking ports and intelligent multi-agent constellations for cooperative cislunar operations, among other innovations highlighted in the 2026 NSTGRO program. These projects, involving researchers from major universities including UT Austin and Harvard, represent NASA's efforts to enable manufacturing and coordination in lunar and cislunar environments, reducing payload mass and enhancing mission flexibility.
