Tropical Storm Fay regained tropical storm strength in the central Atlantic on Sept 28, located roughly 1,380 miles west-southwest of the Azores with maximum sustained winds of about 40 mph and a minimum central pressure of 1008 mb. The system has fluctuated in intensity for days, with NHC discussions noting a still-sheared convective structure. Fay is forecast to continue moving southwest, remaining far from land, and GDACS reports no population affected by tropical-storm-force winds or higher.
