Asus has obtained an exemption from the US government's spring 2026 ban on foreign-made consumer routers, allowing the company to bring Wi-Fi 8 routers to the US market. The exemption required manufacturers to either convince regulators they posed no national security threat or submit detailed plans to establish or expand US manufacturing. Asus has not publicly disclosed what steps it took to secure the exemption or whether it committed to domestic manufacturing expansion.
