Tropical Storm Rachel formed in the eastern Pacific and was tracked by the National Hurricane Center through 29-30 September 2026, located a few hundred miles southwest of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, moving northwest at about 11-13 mph. As of the latest advisory, Rachel had maximum sustained winds of 70 mph and a minimum central pressure of 989 mb, with forecasters saying it was expected to become a hurricane soon. Tropical storm conditions were already occurring along the southwestern coast of Mexico. GDACS also flagged the storm, noting it had reached wind speeds up to 194 km/h while active in the East Pacific and affecting Mexico at medium vulnerability, though no confirmed casualty or displacement figures were reported.
