UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said there were 'strong indications' that Iran played a part in a suspected security incident at RAF Fairford, a British airbase used by the US military, over the weekend. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly denied the claim, calling it 'barking up the wrong tree' and alleging the UK was deflecting from its own release of 'terrorists working for foreign states.' The Iranian embassy in London also categorically rejected the accusation. UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband separately told Iran's foreign minister that Britain would not tolerate 'hostile activity' on British soil, citing threats from Iranian-linked groups including alleged plots against the British Jewish community. The dispute adds a new flashpoint to already strained UK-Iran relations amid the broader regional standoff.
