A brown bear named '89 Backpack' was crowned champion of the annual Fat Bear Week competition, celebrated for its exceptional girth ahead of winter hibernation. The bear will soon enter hibernation, which can last up to six months. The lighthearted contest, run by Katmai National Park, draws wide public engagement each year as a celebration of bears' seasonal weight gain and survival preparation.
