Hurricane Rachel, located a few hundred miles southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, gradually strengthened through September 30 into October 1, 2026, reaching maximum sustained winds of about 90 mph (80 kt) with a minimum central pressure of 975 mb while moving northwest at roughly 6-7 mph. The National Hurricane Center issued repeated advisories, forecasts and wind-probability updates as the storm's convective structure persisted with very cold cloud tops, and GDACS tracked it as an active hurricane-strength cyclone affecting Mexico with medium vulnerability. No landfall or casualty figures were reported in the available bulletins, but coastal Mexico, including areas near Cabo San Lucas, remained under watch as the system continued its northwestward track. Eastern Pacific outlooks also tracked this storm alongside Tropical Depression Nineteen-E and Tropical Storm Nolo as part of an active late-season Pacific hurricane period.
