The Smithsonian/USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity report for September 10-16, 2026 detailed ongoing eruptive activity at numerous volcanoes worldwide, including new Strombolian eruptions at Krakatau (Indonesia), continuing ash emissions at Aira/Sakurajima (Japan), Dukono and Ibu (Indonesia), Kanlaon and Mayon (Philippines), Karangetang and Lewotolok (Indonesia), lava effusion at Great Sitkin (Alaska) and Krasheninnikov (Russia), a thermal anomaly at Klyuchevskoy (Russia), and continued fountaining and spatter at Kilauea (Hawaii). Alert levels remained largely unchanged across these volcanoes, with most agencies advising standard exclusion zones of 2-4 km around active craters. No fatalities, injuries or major damage were reported in connection with any of these ongoing eruptions, which represent typical, continuing volcanic unrest at several of the world's most active volcanoes.
