A study of more than 16,000 apparently healthy adults found that arterial plaque, a sign of atherosclerosis, was already detectable in about 1 in 13 people ages 18 to 29, with more than half of all participants showing some signs of the condition. Researchers say direct arterial imaging could reveal cardiovascular disease years or decades before symptoms appear.
