Keurig unveiled its Alta machine, which uses compostable AltaRounds—plant-based coffee pods derived from seaweed that wrap pressed coffee grounds. The innovation eliminates the plastic and aluminum waste associated with traditional K-Cup pods while maintaining the single-serve convenience that popularized Keurig appliances, though the pods currently come wrapped in plastic.
