Thailand's capital Bangkok was declared a disaster-affected zone after an active low-pressure cell brought days of continuous heavy rain and thunderstorms starting around September 24-25, 2026, dumping more than 300-330mm of rain in 48 hours in some areas. Streets were submerged in waist-high water, cars were left underwater, and residents navigated flooded neighborhoods by boat; nearly 4,900 people were evacuated to shelters with roughly 52,000 households affected. The city's governor declared the disaster as the flooding coincided with what should be the tail end of Thailand's rainy season, with residents saying this year's flooding was unusually severe. The same period saw Hurricane Nolo threatening Hawaii's Big Island elsewhere in the Pacific.
