The iconic 550-year-old Hōlei Sea Arch, a lava rock formation protruding from the rocky cliffs in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, collapsed sometime over the past weekend. The natural landmark, a prominent feature of the park's coastal landscape, deteriorated and fell into the ocean, representing a significant loss to the natural heritage of the Hawaiian islands.
