A wave of Russian drone, missile, and guided-bomb attacks struck multiple Ukrainian cities over October 2-3, killing a grandmother and granddaughter in Kyiv, two women and injuring 42 in Kharkiv, injuring three women in a Dnipro apartment fire and setting a business center ablaze, injuring a firefighter in Zaporizhzhia, wounding a man and child in Hostomel, injuring five in Izium, and leaving at least 18 injured across Donetsk, Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. Overnight, Russia launched 157 drones including 45 jet-powered Shaheds, with Ukrainian air defenses destroying or jamming 131 of them while hits were recorded at 12 locations; Kyiv authorities also retracted an earlier report that drone debris had caused a fire on an apartment block. Among the victims was 14-year-old Illia Honcharov, killed after evacuating from Sumy Oblast, who was buried in Vyshhorod with motorcyclists honoring his dream of owning a Kawasaki. The scattered strikes underscore the continued civilian toll of Russia's intensified aerial campaign against Ukrainian population centers.
