In the run-up to Grand Theft Auto VI's release, Rockstar Games and related marketing have generated a wave of coverage. A leaked (then quickly deleted) PEGI rating detailed 'detailed decapitation' and 'frequent and prominent' drug use, including cocaine use by protagonists Jason and Lucia. Meanwhile, a fashion-magazine feature with the two leads reiterated Rockstar's intent to keep the satire 'over the top,' a new screenshot drew comparisons to Pulp Fiction's famous diner scene, and Saturday Night Live even parodied the GTA 6 vs. Zelda hype in a Weekend Update skit featuring Jason and Link. The promotional push also extends beyond entertainment: the NBA's Miami Heat announced they'll wear GTA 6/Vice City-inspired jerseys and play on a specially branded court against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 18, the day before the game's release, with the Kaseya Center already decorated in Vice City signage. Separately, Warhorse co-founder Martin Klima said he hopes GTA 6's $80 price point will push the industry toward higher game prices to offset rising development costs and layoffs, underscoring the game's outsized influence on the industry ahead of launch.
