Israel's Central Elections Committee ordered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to remove online videos deemed unauthorized campaign material using military and public resources, as Israel's election season formally opens October 27. Separately, commentary and political pressure continue to build around whether Netanyahu knew of warnings ahead of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, with critics saying the focus on his personal failures lets Israel avoid reckoning with its conduct in Gaza. Israel's defence ministry also disclosed that 1,318 Israeli personnel have died since the October 7 attack, including soldiers, police, Shin Bet agents and other officials, as the war's toll and its political fallout remain central to the unfolding election campaign.
