Violence by Israeli forces and settlers continued to escalate across the occupied West Bank over the weekend. A Palestinian man, Raafat Khairi Ahmed Abu Khalil, 45, died while being detained by Israeli soldiers at the Anab checkpoint east of Tulkarm; more than 15 others were wounded and at least one more Palestinian was killed in separate attacks by Israeli forces and settlers, according to Wafa and the Palestine Red Crescent. Israeli forces also detained Palestinian farmers and seized property in the Jordan Valley, while settlers set fire to homes and blocked a family from returning to their village. Additional incidents reported in the same period include Israeli forces arresting schoolchildren during a raid in Jerusalem. Rights groups and local officials say the pattern of settler attacks and military raids has intensified ahead of the olive harvest season, raising fears for farmers' safety in the coming weeks.
