The engineering development unit for NASA's DAVINCI probe, designed to study Venus's deep atmosphere, was placed in a ceramic-lined thermal chamber and subjected to temperatures up to 869°F (465°C) to validate its ability to withstand Venus's harsh surface conditions ahead of its eventual mission.
