Tensions over the unresolved US-Iran conflict continued, with a third tanker in two days struck near the Strait of Hormuz even as President Masoud Pezeshkian called talks with Washington "meaningless." Iran said it was reviewing an official US response to its seven-day proposal to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi and other officials offering differing assessments of whether further negotiations were needed. Qatari mediators pressed a peace deal, and separate US-Iran contacts with intermediaries continued, but Trump reportedly rejected an Iranian peace plan and denied offering sanctions relief for nuclear concessions. Meanwhile Iran readied harder retaliation if attacked, an Iranian lawmaker insisted control of Hormuz was an "unchangeable policy," and an IRGC adviser claimed no US vessels remained in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or northern Indian Ocean — even as crude exports from Hormuz were reported to have largely returned to pre-war levels through alternative routes, and the US was said to be targeting Iran's military supply chain. The muddled, contradictory signals underscore a fragile and uncertain path toward ending the seven-month-old conflict.
