NASA's Perseverance rover, after six months exploring the 'Lac de Charmes' region beyond Jezero crater's western rim, has discovered a large field of light-toned rocks, an unusual feature on the Martian surface. Researchers, including Imperial College London PhD candidate Alex Jones, say the finding could offer new clues about ancient subsurface processes on Mars. The discovery adds to Perseverance's ongoing exploration of ancient Martian terrain as it searches for signs of past habitability.
