A Moscow court sentenced former Sochi Mayor Alexei Kopaygorodsky to 15 years in a high-security prison for accepting 248 million rubles in bribes. Kopaygorodsky had reportedly tried to leave for the front in Ukraine before authorities brought him back to face charges; he resigned abruptly in May 2024 citing a transition to a federal post.
