A new report found that the world's oceans absorbed a record 23 zettajoules of heat last year, an amount of thermal energy nearly 40 times greater than all the energy used by humanity that year. The finding comes amid accelerating sea level rise and continuing ocean acidification, highlighting the scale of heat being stored in the deep oceans as a consequence of the climate crisis.
