Yemen's Saudi-backed government declared an all-out war to reclaim territory from the Houthis, launching a major ground offensive in Taiz aimed at retaking the strategic al-Waziiya district, which controls access to the Red Sea port of Mocha that Houthis seized last month. Government forces, backed by Saudi air power and renewed international support, claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on Houthi fighters and seized a key mountain peak in the Jabal Habashi district, though both sides gave conflicting reports on control of Mocha itself. Saudi aircraft also struck Houthi-held areas in Ibb and Taiz. Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed collective defense commitments to counter the Houthis, and analysts note that territorial gains alone may not be enough to decisively shift the trajectory of the renewed Yemen war.
