Researchers found that predatory wasps are increasingly taking over shelters that tropical trees build for ants that defend them from herbivores, a takeover that is far more common in disturbed landscapes such as oil palm plantations. The disruption could have lasting consequences for the ancient ant-tree partnership and for forest recovery and evolution.
